THISISPOPBABY to premiere new show Octopus Children at Dublin Fringe Festival
Written by FELISPEAKS, it debuts at the Project Arts Centre in September.
THISISPOPBABY’s new show Octopus Children, written by FELISPEAKS, is set to debut in September 2025 at Dublin Fridge Festival.
Described as “a powerful coming-of-age story that follows Young Felicia as a queer, “Black Irish midlands culchie” grappling with the layers of their identity and the responsibilities that come with it,” Octopus Children follows the success of THISISPOPBABY’s previous shows such as WAKE, RIOT, and last-year’s 0800 CUPID.
The upcoming project explores the expansive and multifaceted experience of being Black and Irish through a rich visual narrative, “part poetic landscape, part theatre.”
Octopus Children began as a visual EP idea, evolving since into a multidisciplinary experience. The first poetry music video, ‘Tough Meat’, dropped in November 2022.
It was directed by Oonagh Murphy and will be previewed on 5 September 5 at 9pm, before playing on September 6 - 7 at 9pm , September 11 - 14 at 6:15pm, and September 12 and 14 at 1pm.
Tickets sell from €16 and are available now here.
