Watch: Kingfishr give surprise performance at couple's wedding
The band stepped up when a groom requested a copy of their upcoming single 'Next To Me' for his first dance
Ahead of releasing their new single 'Next To Me' on Friday, July 11, Kingfishr have surprised a couple on their wedding day, performing as their band.
The band received a message from a groom via Instagram, asking for an MP3 file of their upcoming song to use for his first dance. Rather, the trio decided on a grander gesture, performing the song live at their wedding—suits and all!
"Someone messaged us on the weekend, asking if we could send them the new tune so they could have it as their first dance. So we jumped in as the wedding band. Congrats Pete & Lauren," Kingfishr shared on their social media.

The groom in question later thanked the three-piece on Instagram: "Huge thanks to the guys for coming and playing the perfect first dance song. Legends!"
Kingfishr's forthcoming single 'Next To Me' is taken from their highly anticipated debut album, Halcyon, set to release on August 22. It chronicles the band's journey so far, from early favorites 'Flowers-Fire' and 'Eyes Don’t Lie' right through to new material such as '21', 'Next To Me', and 'Someday'.
"Halcyon is the culmination of three years' work, though most of the time it hasn’t felt like it," explained the folk group.
"We grew up in different parts of rural Ireland, though the band itself was born on a dairy farm in Tipperary. The songs were written in a small kitchen where generations of farmers became singers and storytellers when the work was done. We’re so proud of all of this. Thank you for being a part of it. On and up!"
