U2 announce title of next album and new single

U2 have revealed the title of their upcoming album Carnaval de Luz, with its first single ‘Silencio’ released tomorrow, Thursday, September 24.

The title was announced to The Irish Times’ during a podcast with Róisín Ingle marking the band’s 50th anniversary.

Details of the album’s release date and more are due to be released this week.

Carnaval de Luz will mark their first LP since 2017’s Songs of Experience, and its announcement coincides with U2’s 50th anniversary celebration, which will include several events scheduled around Dublin.

To celebrate the anniversary, Hot Press revisited the band’s first article in the magazine, dating back to 1978.

Most recently, U2 were named as MusiCares Persons of the Year for 2027, celebration their demonstration of the “extraordinary power of music to bring people together, draw attention to urgent needs and inspire action."
