His adaptation of Sebastian Barry's novel is a seriously A-List affair
Jim Sheridan’s The Secret Scripture is one of three Irish titles that have been selected for September 8-18’s prestigious Toronto Film Festival where it will receive its world premiere. With a cast that includes Vanessa Redgrave, Eric Banna, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Jack Reynor, Rooney Mara and Aidan Turner, the big-screen adaptation of the Sebastian Barry bestseller is expected to do big things at the box-office. As Barry fans will know, The Secret Scripture refers to the diary kept by a woman during her stay in the Roscommon Regional Mental Hospital.
Also Canada-bound are Aisling Walsh’s Maudie, which boasts the A-List talents of Ethan Hawke and Unless, Alan Gilsenan’s cinematic version of the Carol Shields novel of the same name…
