National Student Music Awards 2007 kicks off
There’s a €10,000 cache of prizes to be won as part of the Bank of Ireland National Student Music Awards 2007.
Won respectively in ’05 and ’06 by Delorentos and Lotus Lullaby, the competition is open to any act that has a member in full-time third level education.
12 bands will be selected for the regional heats at UCC, Dublin (March 7); Cuba, Galway (22); and Cyprus Avenue, Cork (29), with the top two each night going through to the Grand Final in the capital.
The victors get extensive recording time at Dublin’s Religion Music Studios; a cash prize from IMRO; CD duplication from Easy Duplication; rehearsal time at The Rehearsal Rooms; a one-day consultation with Edward Traynor of EFC Solicitors; a prestigious support slot; and – best of all – a Hot Press interview.
They’ll also be dispatched to Blighty to compete in the UK Final, which traditionally attracts a huge A&R presence.
If you’d like in on the action, demos should be dispatched to the NSMA, Suite 49, 184 Lower Rathmines Road, Dublin 6 to arrive by February 15.
