My Bloody Valentine episode of Hot Press Classics out now - feat. Thurston Moore
Recorded in 19 different studios over two-and-a-half years, Paul Nolan and Kilian Murphy are ready to unveil their career-defining masterpiece: a podcast on My Bloody Valentine's landmark 1991 classic, Loveless. Plus an interview with Thurston Moore.
Hot Press Classics celebrates My Bloody Valentine's long-awaited return to the Dublin stage this month with a special episode on their 1991 classic Loveless.
In the new instalment, Paul Nolan is joined by Hot Press contributing editor Killian Murphy to discuss Loveless' acclaimed status, their incredible influence on the world of music, and the musical chemistry of the lineup.
The duo also explores My Bloody Valentine's formation in Dublin, the ambitious, two-year long recording process of Loveless, and Kevin Shield's all-encompassing vision for the record.
Elsewhere, Nolan and Murphy take a look at the album's innovative production and sonic identity, Shield's image as a legendary and mysterious rock figure, and the band's renowned reputation as a live act.
Additionally, they speak of Shield's later work on Sofia Coppola's Lost In Translation, My Bloody Valentine's pre-Loveless work, and the group's immersive soundscapes.
The duo concludes by exploring the record song by song, discussing its sonic distinctiveness, and its legendary modern status.
To wrap up the episode, Paul Nolan brings back an interview with Thurston Moore from earlier this year where they discuss My Bloody Valentine's early days of success, and what makes Loveless such a landmark album.
Find out about this and more in the new episode of Hot Press Classics, produced by Paul Nolan and edited by Flo Laurent.
