Morrissey in running for Eurovision Song Contest
Just when you thought it couldn't get stranger than Dervish performing Ireland's entry at the Eurovision Song Contest, it's been announced that Morrissey is in the running for the UK team.
The BBC has confirmed that they have approached former Ireland resident Morrissey to write one of the songs for the contest.
A spokeswoman for the BBC confirmed: "Morrissey said that he would be interested in doing it so we approached him and we are currently in discussion."
"Nothing is confirmed and we are also talking to other people."
If successful, his song would then be presented alongside others for the public vote to decide which track to use for the entry for the annual contest, which in 2007 will take place on May 12 in Finland.
