Mayo to host singer songwriter weekend
Taking place in Castlebar, the weekend will feature a range of workshops with feedback available from several established artists
Mayo County Council Arts Office is organising a Singer-Songwriter Weekend which is taking place in the Travellers’ Friend Hotel, Castlebar on August 23 and 24.
Along with a range of workshops, there’ll be a chance for participants to showcase their wares and get expert feedback from Andy Irvine, Katell Keineg, Steve Wall and Turn’s Ollie Cole. The quartet will also perform together on Saturday night in the venue’s Ruby Rooms.
Says County Arts Office Anne McCarthy: “There’s a thriving culture of music in this county, which embraces all musical forms. We’d like to offer musicians an opportunity to access professional advice and network in an informal atmosphere.”
Admission throughout is free, although the workshop places are limited to 40 participants – 10 – and will be run on a first-come first-served basis. Which, kids, means booking is essential.
Supported by Mayo County Council, The arts Council, The Western People,
Mid-West Radio and IMRO, more details are available by calling (094) 2444,
