MayKay has announced her debut solo album MayKay will be released on October 10 on GrainsStore records.
Mary-Kate Geraghty, or MayKay, has been the front woman for alternative rock band Fight Like Apes since its inception in 2006.
Fight Like Apes originally disbanded in 2016, but since 2023 have come back together to play live shows at festivals such as Electric Picnic and All Together Now and the 3Olympia.
MayKay also released her debut solo single 'Busted' today. The song covers the subject of older male influence on the behaviours of young men.
On August 29, she performed alongside Jerry Fish at the Electric Picnic performing songs off of their album Dreaming of Daniel, a tribute to the late folk singer, Daniel Johnston.
She has collaborated with artists such as Elaine Mai and Faye O'Rourke, and has presented on the television programme Other Voices. She describes her solo career as "a long time coming".
