Radie Peat announces debut solo album
Tickets are on sale now.
Dublin contemporary folk artist Radie Peat has announced her debut solo album, No Human Tongue Can Tell, out November 13, as well as a show at Dublin's Vicar Street on November 20.
The news comes alongside the release of 'The Moon and Stars', the second track off No Human Tongue Can Tell.
Peat describes the album as "communicating hundreds of years of other people's experiences, that have been absorbed into the songs from generations and generations before you - binds you with a worldliness beyond the sum of your own experience."
She explained that the album has been in the works for a while, "It's been ticking along in the background of my head for probably 15 years or so.
"When I was in my 20s I watched a documentary on Mike Oldfield making 'Tubular Bells' and the idea just stuck that I would like to try to record like that, where you write and play all the intersecting parts. I found the idea of being limited by your own mind and abilities, with all the blind spots and personal preferences, very appealing."
In July, she dropped her debut solo single, 'Still I Love Him', which is also set to feature on the record.
Peat is known for her work with Lankum and for co-founding ØXN, a doom-folk group, with Katie Kim, Eleanor Myler and John 'Spud' Murphy.
Lankum's fourth studio album, False Lankum, was nominated for a Mercury award and an Ivor Novello. The band's music has also been featured in several films and TV shows including House of Guinness and the final scene of Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.
Tickets for her Vicar Street show are on sale here.
