Radie Peat releases debut solo single ahead of Vicar Street show
Radie Peat is playing live at Dublin's Vicar Street on November 20.
Radie Peat has released her debut solo single, 'Still I Love Him' today, via Rough Trade Records.
The Lankum and ØXN singer will be performing live at Vicar Street in Dublin on November 20. Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10 am and can be purchased here.
'Still I Love Him' is Peat's interpretation of the popular traditional love song. This version was discovered by John Francis Flynn in the Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA). Uncovering the darker themes of traditional music, the disturbing and rare version captured her attention.
"John discovered the song in an archive titled 'True Love'," Peat said, " I found that so dark - even though you suffer - because of the amount you love someone - you stay, you carry on."
Peat is no stranger to the ITMA after recording Lankum's album Cold Old Fire in the ITMA Recording Studio and developing her skillset by using archival tunes to source her material.
"I don't like being too explicit," Peat reflects on her debut, "and I wanted the freedom to make decisions around my voice without having to explain myself."
