Marlena Shaw and Mad Professor live at the Spiegeltent
Soul legend Marlena Shaw and dub-reggae hero Mad Professor are to play the Spiegeltent as part of the Dublin Fringe Festival.
The special one-off date is to take place at the George's Dock venue on September 11th.
New York soulster Marlena Shaw is best known for her distinctive vocals and her song 'California Soul', used in a successful ad campaign for KFC in 2005. A former child star who scored performance slots with The Count Basie Orchestra, she became the first female artist to sign to prestigious label Blue Note Recordings. Her work has been sampled by artists such as St. Germain and DJ Shadow.
Neil 'Mad Professor' Fraser went from a having four-track home studio to running his own Ariwa label in the 1980s. His studio has seen the recording of Number Ones by Sandra Cross and Pato Banton, and he has also worked with Massive Attack and The Orb.
Tickets are €24.50 and available from 1850 FRINGE, from the Box Office in Temple Bar Information Centre or online at www.fringefest.com
Also appearing at this year's festival are David Holmes, 3epkano, Seasick Steve and King Creosote, whose double-headline concert will also take place at the Spiegeltent on September 18th.
