Loudest Whisper celebrate four decades with Cork concert
Fermoy folk-rock heroes Loudest Whisper will celebrate 40 years on the road with a special concert in the Cork School of Music this weekend.
Loudest Whisper, led by their indomitable guitarist, producer and songwriter Brian O’Reilly, play the Curtis Auditorium, Cork School of Music, on Sunday March 29 at 8pm.
Ireland’s legendary folk/rock band will be augmented by a string quartet and a choir for a unique performance of their 1975 concept album The Children of Lir which has since become a collector’s item, selling for £1,000 a copy.
The CIT Cork School of music Jazz Big Band, under musical director John O’Connor, will make a guest appearance at this concert, joining Loudest Whisper to perform a selection of songs from O’Reilly’s folk/jazz opera ‘Buskin’.
The Children of Lir album has gained an almost mythical status over the years, and is now arguably the most sought after LP ever issued in Ireland, and stands at number 78 in the top 100 most wanted vinyl albums of all time.
