Kíla release new EP dedicated to Michael D. Higgins
The EP was performed for Michael D. at an event earlier this month.
Kíla have released their EP Ómós, dedicated to President Michael D. Higgins.
The Irish folk group dedicated the EP to the President for his commitment to the arts, music, culture and specifically the Irish language.
Kíla performed the EP for Michael D. at a special event on Sat Oct 4 at Aras Chronain in Clondalkin.
“A year ago, Colm Ó Snodaigh, Brían Ó Gaibhín and myself came up with a plan to give thanks to the president," said Kíla bassist Brian Hogan. "This recording gave us the biggest reason to write and record in years and we are privileged to be able to perform this music in front of our hero, Uachtarán na hÉireann, Michael D Higgins, there will never be another like him!”
On the EP, Irish actor Stephen Rea recites Michael D Higgin‘s poem ‘Stardust' with Kíla’s Celtic instrumentals in the background.
The EP features two other tracks, the title track 'Ómós', followed by 'Bog Bog'.
The group is set for a full Irish tour commencing later this month, with dates in Doolin, Trim, Derry, Mallaranny, Belfast, Waterford , Bantry and Galway. Tickets can be found here.
Ómós is available now from Crashed Records.
