Tindersticks: “Kathleen” (This Way Up)

Seeing as we’re on a role of gratuitous soccer analogies, Nottingham’s Tindersticks have to be the Eric Cantonas of bedsit pop. Mean, moody but quite brilliant in short bursts, ‘Kathleen’ borrows more than the odd nuance from Messrs. Cave and Cohen but warms parts of the body that even an oxyacetylene torch couldn’t reach. Altogether now, ooh-ahh-Tindersticks-aah!
