Karima Francis makes her Dublin debut
The much-vaunted – not least by Hot Press– Karima Francis nips over on May 24 for her first Irish gig in the Dublin Academy 2.
Tickets are €14.45, and hopefully you’ll get to hear her killer cover of Kings Of Leon’s ‘Use Somebody’.
Discovered two years ago at Manchester’s In The City music convention (see elsewhere on hotpress.com for details of the 2009 demo call), Francis looks like a female Jimi Hendrix, and sounds like a younger, edgier Tracy Chapman.
Signed to Columbia, she’s just released her debut album, The Author, and appears tonight at 11.35pm on BBC 2’s Later With Jools Holland alongside Franz Ferdinand, Carole King, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Mummers and the newly reconvened Specials.
