Johnny Marr to speak at Trinity College
Former Smiths and current Modest Mouse guitarist Johnny Marr is to speak at Trinity College next week.
He'll address the college's philosophical society next Tuesday, October 2, as part of the society's programme of Fresher's Week events.
After a falling out with Morrissey over the direction of The Smiths' music, Marr left the group to form supergroup Electronic with Bernard Sumner of New Order. Since then, Marr has assisted several bands in producing music, including The The, before releasing a 'solo' album with The Healers. In more recent times, he has joined Seattle rock band Modest Mouse and is currently on tour with them on a trip around Europe, which has so far included a storming set at this year's Electric Picnic.
Marr will also be judging the final of a guitar solo competition, the winner of which will receive an electric guitar signed by him.
