JD Set shortlist acts announced

Hot Press can exclusively reveal the 20 unsigned acts that’ll be slugging it out in this year’s JD Set band competition, which is being mentored by Charlatans legend Tim Burgess.
They’ll get to exhibit their live wares in The Pavillion, Cork (February 19); Whelan’s, Dublin (26); Dolan’s, Limerick (March 5); Roisin Dubh, Galway (26); and Electric Avenue, Waterford (April 9) and then, if they get the nod from the judges, go through to April 29’s JD Set final in the Dublin Village.
Those shortlisted groups in alphabetical order are Cutaways, Fingersmith, Funzo, Go Panda Go, Henrietta Game, Lady Doll, Liz Is Evil, Macrogrizzly, Mail Order Messiahs, Red Twelve, Saccade, Sanskrit, Sixteen Layers, Stone Throwing Youths, The Coonics, The Dirty 9’s, Tupelo, Vasco Junior, We Go Go and Zealots.
