Janet Devlin shares music video for 'Emotional Radio'

Janet Devlin has premiered the music video to her chart topping single ‘Emotional Rodeo’.

Written with Ben Earle of The Shires and Kaity Rae (GIRLI, Beth McCarthy), the release saw Devlin venture into the heart of country music, blending her Irish charm with the vigor of country rock. Influenced by her time playing in a céilí band as a child, a fiddle features prominently throughout the track alongside driving guitars and drums.

Lyrically, the track sees Devlin face her own battles with Borderline Personality Disorder and bipolar disorder. “This track represents what I’m like in relationships… a bit of a handful,” expresses the singer.

“The BPD makes me love hard, but the downside is a huge fear of abandonment – it’s a rollercoaster.  However, I’m a firm believer in laughing at your pain - in some ways, I think it takes control away from it. Stops it owning you. So, by writing an upbeat ditty about what it’s like to live with BPD takes its power away.”

Amidst a tour alongside Russell Crowe and his band in Australia and Europe, The Tyrone native travelled to Nashville to record the tune - which has since made its way into the UK Top 40 and went straight to No.1 in the Irish Country Music Charts.

“There were two main types of music I listened to as a youngster; country and rock,” she said. “When those two worlds collide, I’m as giddy as a schoolgirl. Recording in Nashville was everything I thought it would be! Following on from the first single of my last album, I was set on creating a song that was an utter wall of sound for my next release.”
