Continued Irish film success as Damien O'Donnell's short How Was Your Day? wins 'Best Narrative Short' at this years SXSW.
It has been an unbelievable year in Irish cinema with global critical and commercial success and we have another accolade to flaunt courtesy of Damien O'Donnell's short How Was Your Day?.
Adapted from a short story by Nollaig Rowan, How Was Your Day? stars Eileen Walsh as a woman who is excited in the running up to the birth of her first child. Written and directed by Damien O'Donnell, the short has beaten off stiff international competition and won 'Best Narrative Short' at the SXSW festival.
Since premiering at the Galway Film Fleadh last year, How Was Your Day? has been impressing audiences and pundits on the festival circuit. The short has already garnered 'Best Irish Short' at the Indie Cork Film Festival and the Foyle Film Festival, is in the running to be longlisted for the Academy Awards 2017 and is among the nominees for 'Best Irish Short' for this years IFTA awards.
How Was Your Day? was in good company at the SXSW festival with a strong Irish presence in the 2016 programme. Irish features I Am Not A Serial Killer and John Carney's Sing Street opened at the festival to cheers of acclaim and short film Geist also had its international debut there.
Keep an eye out for How Was Your Day? at the 2016 IFTA's which will take place on Saturday April 9.
