Irish Debut For Mayer Hawthorne
Mayer Hawthorne & The County have announced Irish dates.
Describes as a Breakout Artist by no less an authority than Playboy Magazine, the LA-based multi-instrumentalist soul merchant has one acclaimed album to his credit, entitled A Strange Arrangement, released on the Stone's Throw label.
Hawthorne was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, just down the road from Detroit, the home of Motown. “Most of the best music ever made came out of Detroit,” he says. While he counts Isaac Hayes, Leroy Hutson, Mike Terry, and Barry White among his influences, HAwthorne – who pproduced his debut album – draws the most inspiration from the music of Smokey Robinson, Curtis Mayfield and the legendary songwriting and production trio of Holland, Dozier and Holland.
His Irish dates will take Hawthorne to the Roisin Dubh in Galway on October 30th and to Crawdaddy in Dublin the following night as part of the DEAF festival. They are part of a 24 date European tour, which sees Hawthorne play numerous prestige venue, including the Paradiso in Amsterdam.
Hawthorne is also endorsed by the likes of Ghostface Killa, who proclaimed "his music is fire". The Irish dates are promoted by Choice Cuts.
