IFTA hosts music forum
The Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) is has announced the inaugural IFTA Music Forum, focusing on "Music for the Moving Image", will take place in Dublin on 4 September 2009.
The Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) has announced the inaugural IFTA Music Forum, focussing on "Music for the Moving Image", will take place in Dublin on 4 September 2009.
IFTA have stated that the forum will act as a "think tank" for directors, producers, musicians and composers exploring the possibilities and practicalities around the business of music composition for the screen.
There will be a substantial amount of international publishing and composing names names in attendance. These incllude Oscar, Golden Globe and Ivor Novello winning composer Dario Marianlli, whose credits include Atonement, Pride & Prejudice, V for Vendetta and the Irish film I Went Down.
Other participants include Maggie Rodford, MD of the Air Edel Group, music supervisor/score co-ordinator and director of Hot House Music, Becky Bentham, whose credits include Mamma Mia!, Hotel Rwanda,Blood Diamond and Neil Jordan‘s latest Ondine; and acclaimed Irish director Kirsten Sheridan, whose feature August Rush received a Grammy and Oscar nomination for its original soundtrack. Also appearing will be the producers of the Oscar winning, ultra low budget feature film Once,Martina Niland and David Collins (tbc) and many more.
