Headgear to release anticipated debut album
The Headgear hype will be put to the test when they play Whelan's next month
Headgear put in a strong bid for ‘Debut of the Year’ with the September 10 release of their eponymous album.
The nom de studio of Darragh Dukes – his uncle Alan used to be leader of Fine Gael – he/they have already snared the interest of BBC Radio One’s Zane Lowe who’s gigged with him/them in London.
Produced by Deus, Tricky and Lamb knob-twiddler Ali Stanton, the nine-tracker emerges here through the Limerick singer’s own Martha Digs label.
Although harder than an epileptic Hulk Hogan to pin down, Headgear are likely to find favour with anybody who has a Beck, Flaming Lips or eels record in their collection. Comedy fans should also note that there’s a guest trumpeting appearance from his ex-D’Unbelievable neighbour Pat Shortt.
Headgear are no slouches in the live department either as you'll be able to discover on September 14 when they headline Whelan's.
