Hard Working Class Heroes kicks off!
A host of Irish acts performed around the city last night.
The HWCH Showcase has kicked off in style - last night saw various live performances in the Button Factory, Shebeen Chic, the Workman's Club, the Grand Social, Twisted Pepper and the Mercantile.
Among those HP caught were the always-fantastic Sounds Of System Breakdown in the Button Factory, followed by the very impressive Spies. Things were a little more subdued in Shebeen Chic, where singer-songwriter Karrie showcased her beautiful vocal. Afterwards, talented pianist Conor Walsh performed to a hushed crowd, while Windings and Daithí finished off the evening over in the Grand Social.
Tonight will see performances from (in no particular order!) Le Galaxie, No Monster Club, Squarehead, Toby Kaar, Owensie, Enemies and former HP cover stars and 'Play On The Day' finalists Zombie Computer. Weekend tickets are available now.
Check out Maeve Heslin and Celina Murphy's reviews of the event in the next issue of Hot Press.
