Halite confirm second album & nationwide tour
You can't keep a good man down, it would seem…having parted company 'by mutual agreement' with Warner Music Ireland earlier this year, Graham Hopkins' outfit Halite released their sophomore album, Courses on October 1st. Although the band have courted major label interest since leaving the Warner fold, their new album will be released on the band's own label, Brassneck Recordings.
Having flown solo with Halite's debut album Head On , Hopkins appears delighted at the more 'ensemble' feel of the new record.
"The energy of the band totally shaped the direction of Courses," he comments. "You can hear on the songs that everyone plays a vital role in Halite and it sounds as if we are all playing for our lives."
"I recorded the first album more or less on my own," he continues. "I wanted it to sound like an intimate, laid-back kind of thing. With Courses, we didn't want to think about what might be fashionable in music today or tomorrow, we wanted to play for ourselves and make music for music's sake".
With that, the band are set to take their new sound out on the road. Forthcoming dates include:
Thursday 30th September: Temple Bar Music Centre, Dublin
Friday 1st October, Cypress Avenue, Cork
Saturday 2nd October, Dolan's Limerick
Sunday 3rd October, Roisin Dubh, Galway
Thursday 7th October, Maynooth College, Maynooth
Saturday 9th October, Spirit Store, Dundalk
Sunday 10th October, Auntie Annies, Belfast.
