JUNKSTER: “Going Down” (BMG)

Although the band themselves are probably blameless, Junkster have earned themselves a bad rep in Irish media circles, thanks largely to publicity drones who would have us believe that their charges are achieving far more in America than the actual evidence would suggest. It’s unfortunate, because their last release was a real grower and ‘Going Down’ ain’t half bad either.

Thankfully, somebody here has had the foresight to take out the Garbage, and the absence of gratuitous digital embellishments means that this stripped-down, soulful slow-burner won’t be relying on Shirley Manson’s visa if it does decide to travel Stateside.
