Gypsy-punk rockers Gogol Bordello will play an end of year party in Dublin’s Ambassador Theatre.
New York outfit Gogol Bordello are bringing gypsy-punk to Dublin. The eight-piece will play the Ambassador Theatre on December 20.
Formed in 1999, Gogol Bordello have been producing a unique sound which the band describe as “supercharged music based on a brutal gypsy two step rhythm that sounds like an Eastern European cousin of ska, augmented by punk, metal, rap, flamenco, roots reggae, Italian spaghetti, Western twang, dub and other sounds generated by gypsies and rebels from across the globe.” – That’s a mouthful
The band released their fourth album, Super Taranta, last summer. Produced by Victor Van Vugt who has brought out the best in artists such as Nick Cave and PJ Harvey, the record resulted in a sound which the band feel, “sounds like Gogol Bordello backed by artists Manu Chao and System of a Down”. Not sure if that’s how I’d describe it, but it sure is catchy.
Tickets for Gogol Bordello are priced €30 incl. booking fee and are on sale at all usual outlets from this Friday, June 27.
