Get tickets to 'City Of A Thousand Bands' talk
Featuring Jerry Fish, Leslie Dowdal, Dave Fanning and Eamon Carr.
In conjunction with the One City, One Book Festival, the award-winning Dublin City Council initiative led by Dublin City Public Libraries, Hot Press are putting on what should be a very special and lively discussion.
'The City of a Thousand Bands – ‘80s Dublin On Mature Recollection ' takes place in The Church Cafe and Bar on Tuesday April 21 and features Dave Fanning (RTÉ 2fm), Eamon Carr (Horslips), Leslie Dowdall (In Tua Nua) and Jerry Fish.
They say that rock music thrives in the face of social adversity so it’s no wonder 1980’s Dublin was seen as the perfect breeding ground. It was against this backdrop that The Commitments emerged, giving a new insight into what it meant to share the rock’n’roll dream. Four leading Dublin lights – some of whom feature in Roddy Doyle’s hilarious debut – will offer fresh perspectives on the time, the place, the music and the book. Hot Press editor Niall Stokes chairs.
It kicks off at 8.30pm on April 21 and The Church Cafe and Bar can be found at the junction of Mary St & Jervis St.
It is limited capacity, so to apply for free tickets click HERE!
