Alan Vega also gets a 70th birthday big-up from The Boss.
Gavin Friday and Soft Cell man David Ball say “Happy 70th birthday and here’s a few quid in royalties” to Alan Vega by covering ‘Ghostrider’.
It’s part of a series of BLAST First (petite) 10” EPs, which also finds The Horrors, Lydia Lunch, Sunn O))), Peaches, The Klaxons, Primal Scream, Julian Cope, Liars, Spiritualised, Grinderman and Bruce Springsteen covering classic Suicide tunes.
If you can’t find the vinyl versions, fear not, because most of them are available for download from blastfirstpetite.greedbag.com.
You can hear an alternate live version of The Boss doing ‘Dream Baby Dream’ on www.myspace.com/blastfirstp.
If you’re not au fait with Suicide’s experimental noise oeuvre, let us point you in the direction of their recently released Live 1977-1978 box-set – a 6CD monster that makes you wish (not for the first time) that you’d been a regular at CBGBs and Max’s Kansas City.
