Gary Lightbody side-project ready to roll
The Tired Pony album lands here on July 9.
Gary Lightbody has announced details of The Place We Ran From, the debut and possibly only album from his Tired Pony alt. counry side-project, which is out here on July 9.
Recorded during a crazed few weeks at the start of the year in Portland’s Type Foundry studio, the Reindeer Section-style line-up includes Peter Buck, his R.E.M. associate Scott McCaughey, Iain Archer, Troy Stewart, Belle & Sebastian’s Richard Colburn and Garret ‘Jacknife’ Lee. Also pitching in at different times were M. Ward and his She & Him partner Zooey Deschanel and Editors’ Tom Smith.
The track-listing is ‘Northwestern Skies’, ‘Get On The Road’, ‘Point Me At Lost Islands’, ‘Held In The Arms Of Your Words’, ‘That Silver Necklace’, ‘I Am A Landslide’, ‘The Deepest Ocean There Is’, ‘The Good Book’, ‘Pieces’ and lead single ‘Dead American Writers’.
Judging by the sneak preview below, it sounds like far more than a rock star-ly indulgence.
