Former Brockhampton member Ciarán announces debut solo album Róisín

Ciarán, formerly known as Bearface of Brockhampton, has announced his debut album Róisín, out November 6 through Ninja Tune.

The news comes alongside the release of the lead single, ‘Galvarino’.

The record marks his first full-length project since his work with Brockhampton, who disbanded in 2022.

Of the album title, Ciarán says it was once destined to be his middle name. It also pays homage to his Irish roots, with Róisín meaning “little rose” in the language.

“I was always hesitant to go by Ciarán,” he said. “People learn how to pronounce difficult names all the time. Irish names are beautiful.”

He debuted the new music at an intimate performance with a choir and nine-piece band featuring Roy Blair, Jagger Finn, Nick Velez and others in New York on August 6.

The alternative R&B artist dropped his debut single, ‘K-Bar’, in July, which has since amassed half a million streams.

“A hazy, low-slung groove works with warped synths, a heavy bass and clipped percussion, all surrounding Ciarán’s understated vocals – an intimate and almost disorienting sound,” wrote Hot Press of the track when it was released.

The Belfast musician first began his music career by uploading on SoundCloud in 2011. He went on to perform as the opening act for The 1975 in 2013, before joining Brockhampton in 2016.

He quickly became known by fans for his ballad at the end of all three albums on the Saturation trilogy with songs ‘WASTE’, ‘SUMMER’ and ‘TEAM’.
