Their role is being taken-over by IMRO.
Enterprise Ireland have confirmed that they’ll no longer be part of the Irish presence at MIDEM, the music business and networking event, which takes place in Cannes from January 24th to 27th.
“Enterprise Ireland have been involved in organising the Irish music stand at Midem for about ten years and that involved setting up the stand, while each participant paid their own way,” Ciara O’Mahoney from the Enterprise Ireland press office tells hotpress.com. “Last year we talked it over with IMRO and it was decided that IMRO would be a more appropriate organisation for it. The majority of people participating in the Midem music stand are not clients of Enterprise Ireland. So we’ve handed over all the information to IMRO, details re: budget, and we’re maintaining a close relationship with them. We won’t be involved on any level in 2010.
“We never subsided the participants on the stand, so it’s not as if those who participated in the past are losing out. They paid their own entry fee, travel, accommodation and so on and as far as I know they’ll do the same with IMRO.”
