Durty Jam gig for Oxjam
Following the success of their launch gig in July, the Durty Jam graduates from Hot Press MIX 10 have another showcase lined up
This Friday, October 29 will see Brian Canavan & The Difference Engine, Son of a Beast and The Stoney Brokes appear at the Twisted Pepper to raise funds for Oxfam. Entry is free before 8.30pm and €5 afterwards. Contributions to Oxfam are optional.
Brian Canavan & The Difference Engine are the country’s top indie/trumpet band. The band’s debut release You’re An Electron I’m An Electron was described as “an absolute gem” by Limerick Live 95. Today FM’s Ray D’Arcy called the band’s single ‘Carol Vorderman Counting Me Down’ “a work of genius” while actually in conversation with Vorderman herself! The track has racked up over 200,000 hits on YouTube. Their live show is gathering much press praise at the moment with rave reviews from Hot Press and Music Review Unsigned.
Son of a Beast are spaced out rockers who love distortion and hitting things with sticks. They’ve finished recording their debut album Exist for Me and plan to make it available for free download. The poptastic The Stoney Brokes are both energetic yet easy-to-listen-to.
All the bands and promotion staff will be giving their time for free. All monies raised will be sent to support lifesaving projects in Africa, Asia and South America. See [link]www.oxfamireland.org/oxjam[/link]
