DMX fights the law (the law wins)
DMX was forced to cancel his European tour this weekend after being arrested in New York under somewhat odd circumstances...
There was disappointment for DMX fans this weekend as the Hip Hopper Also Known As Earl Simmons cancelled his European tour and, with it, his two Dublin Ambassador sell-outs which were scheduled for June 27 and 28.
DMX's no-show may have something to do with the altercation he had on Friday at New York's Kennedy Airport.
According to the New York Daily News, "The 33-year-old rap star told authorities he was late for a flight and was trying to park his 1998 black Ford Expedition when another driver got in his way.
"DMX allegedly flipped on his unauthorized flashing lights and siren and chased the man, Sergey Priporin, crashing through a toll gate in the process. Priporin, who had gone to Kennedy with his 13-year-old daughter to pick up his mom, called police. Cops arrived to find DMX and (his associate) Jackie Hudgins trying to pull Priporin out of the car.
"'None of this would have happened if DMX had just paid the parking fee and left', Queens Assistant District Attorney Corrine Henderson said last night. She added that DMX was so high on something 'his pants had fallen down around his ankles and he didn't even notice,' and that he tried to bait cops into a fight. "'He told them, 'I make moves. I make people disappear. Take these cuffs off me and we can go at it,' she said.
"After being detoxed and treated for breathing problems at a nearby hospital, DMX was charged with menacing, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a weapon and driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol," the Daily News concluded.
While his lawyers initially maintained that the European tour wasn't in jeopardy, it emerged later in the day that all dates had been pulled. Irish promoters MCD immediately informed the media, with the result that only a handful of fans turned up at The Ambassador unaware of the cancellation.
