Melbourne’s favourite experimental, instrumental, indie-folkists The Dirty Three make a welcome return to Dublin for an intimate show in Whelans on Wednesday December 9.
Josh T Pearson (formerly of Lift To Experience) will be their very special guest for the night.
Formed in 1992 in Melbourne, Australia, Dirty Three are Warren Ellis, Mick Turner and Jim White and they play violin, guitar and drums. Their last album was Cinder, which they toured in 2005, but they claim they’re half way through a new one at the moment.
In the meantime, Jim has been recording and touring with Bonnie Prince Billy, Bill Callahan and Cat Power, and contributing to albums by PJ Harvey and Marianne Faithful. Mick has been painting, holding exhibitions, reproducing, playing solo shows, recording soundtracks for film and television, and touring with Will Oldham in Australasia. Warren has been recording and touring with the Bad Seeds, forming Grinderman, and recording soundtracks for films with Nick Cave, including most recently The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and the upcoming adaptation of The Road.
