Cork rocks: It's official!
Corks Rocks, a new initiative aimed at putting Cork on the rock map, launches this weekend.
The official launch party takes place at Cyprus Avenue on Saturday 30 July and features four of the hottest acts on the southern scene, Playtoh, Lotus Lullaby, Echogram and Eve Of Mind.
"There's so much great music happening in Cork right now," event organiser Francesca Brown told Hot Press. "It just needs something to give it lift-off. What we want to do with Cork Rocks is to provide a platform for bands. We want to turn people in Cork on to how brilliant live music is – because there's nothing else as exciting as when you see bands up really close."
The opening night will also feature Ashley Keating from The Frank And Walters in a DJ set.
Admission will be €7 on the night – but tickets can be snapped up for just 5 euro in advance from Plugd Records.
Cork Rocks will run at three-weekly intervals art a variety of venues, and every gig will be approached with a sense of occasion.
