Cork ready to rock again
Following its explosive beginning last month, Cork Rocks is ready to blow the roof off the Cruiscin Lan venue once again.
But if you missed the opening night, the next Cork Rocks will be held on September 23, with Kilterr, Eve Of Mind, Quantrum X and Exit: Pursued By A Bear headlining.
Admission is €7, it's all proudly sponsored by Hot Press and the Beamish Experience, so expect free stout and an awful amount of fun to abound.
Proud organizer Francesca Brown says the city is a hotbed of untapped musical talent and she reckons that Cork is the next big music scene waiting to happen.
“I honestly think it could be the next Manchester or Seattle. There’s just so much originality here.
“Corkonians have the balls and confidence to completely be themselves instead of imitating other trendsetters like Franz Ferdinand or The Killers.”
Cork Rocks also gives local bands a chance to get spotted and Francesca mentions that the labels are starting to sniff around.
“There’s been a lot of industry interest,” she revealed. “One label has already talked to me about possibly signing five Cork bands next year.”
