The Irishman enters the prestigious list for the first time
Sporting phenomenon Conor McGregor can tick another goal off his bucket list. The Irish fighter has been added to the Forbes 100 list.
Forbes reports that the 27-year-old has earned $22 million over the past 12 months. Making him the 85th highest-paid athlete in the world. A breakdown of the Dubliner's revenue streams estimates that he has earned $18 million in fight purses and pay-per-view percentages. While his many endorsements have netted him a tidy $4 million from the UFC's Reebok sponsorship, Monster Energy, Bud Light, Rolls Royce and Electroic Arts.
The measurement of McGregor's earnings stretches from June 1, 2015 to June 1, 2016. During that period he fought three times at, UFC 189 versus Chad Mendes, UFC 194 versus Jose Aldo and UFC 196 versus Nate Diaz.
Cristiano Ronaldo topped the Forbes 100 list with $88 million in earnings. While following close on his heels is the Barcelona star Lionel Messi, with $81 million in earnings.
