Comet Records to close
They're bowing out with the mother of all sales.
The extremely sad news is that after 27 years of giving vinyl junkies their fix in both Cork and Dublin, Comet Records is to close its last Temple Bar branch on April 15. As a parting gesture, all LPs, CDs and DVDs will be priced at €4 or under – less if you buy in bulk. There’s also a bunch of 12” dance records going for a yo-yo and other bargain bits and pieces.
Named in honour of Halley’s Comet, which appeared over Irish skies the same year as they launched, Comet will continue to attend Irish record fairs and is building two sites – www.cometrecords.eu and www.cometrecordsonline – that will continue to sell collectibles.
On behalf of all the music lovers who’ve shopped there down through the years, we’d like to thank Brian O’Kelly and crew for fighting the good fight!
