Choice Music Prize date announced
The search to find Jape's successor has started!
This year’s Choice Music Prize will take place on March 3 in Vicar St., with one very chuffed Irish artist going home €10,000 the richer thanks to the generosity of the Irish Music Rights Organisation and the Irish Recorded Music Association.
12 as-yet-unnamed music professionals are currently whittling down last year’s 200+ Irish releases into a 10-album shortlist, which will be revealed on January 13 and doubtless provoke much furious pub debate.
It’s the fifth time the prize has been awarded, with the previous winners Julie Feeney’s 13 Songs, The Divine Comedy’s Victory For The Comic Muse, Super Extra Bonus Party’s eponymous debut and the current album of Choice, Jape’s Ritual.
Having had a good look through the runners and riders, we’re putting our €1.50 each-way on the fabulous Duckworth-Lewis Method.
