Bryan Ferry to play free Tall Ships gig

Bryan Ferry has been confirmed as the headline act for the opening night of the Tall Ships Races 2011, which takes place on Thursday June 30 in Waterford.
Last sighted here playing at the Electric Picnic with his Roxy Music bandmates, the urbane Geordie – I know, bit of a contradiction in terms – will be playing on the main Bolton Street stage and mixing Roxy faves with tunes from his 13th solo album, Olympia.
This month finds him presiding over Mikhail Gorbachev’s 80th birthday party in the Royal Albert Hall.
Back at the Tall Ships, The Waterboys and local heroes O Emperor play on the Friday night and the Sharon Shannon Big Band, Damien Dempsey and Dessie O’Halloran take care of Saturday’s festivities.
