Bombay Bicycle Club gets in gear for Longitude
In an interview with Edwin McFee in today's new issue of HotPress, drummer Suren de Suram talks tour disasters and how the band is warming to the festival circuit.
Still in their mid-twenties, it seems strange to think that Bombay Bicycle Club have a lengthy history of playing festivals. Yet it was all the way back in 2006 that they played V Festival as the winners of a contest. Now, says de Suram, they have learned to love the big stage.
“Over the years we’ve learned to perform at festivals. It’s a very different vibe to playing your own shows. As we’ve grown and, I guess, matured, we’ve learnt how to approach festivals better. It’s all about tailoring your set to the event.”
For all of that, the band’s festival run this summer hasn’t exactly gone off without a hitch.
“We had a little bit of drama at Glastonbury this year. We did a festival in Luxembourg and were driving from there to Glastonbury. Our bus broke down in the middle of the night and we were all like, “FUCK! What do we do?”
