Belfast power pop combo to release John Peel Sessions
There's good news for fans of legendary Belfast power poppers The Moondogs with Reekus giving an Irish release to their John Peel Sessions.
Culled from their 1980 and 1981 visits to the BBC's Maida Vale studios, the track-listing is: 'Schoolgirl Crush', 'Who's Gonna Tell Mary?', 'Talking In The Canteen', 'Roddy's Gang', 'Dream Girl', 'Home Is Where The Heart Is', 'That's What Friends Are For' and 'I'm Not Sleeping'.
Reflects Mr. Peel: "Someone just told me that Simply Red still exists. Why is it that the bands we wish had soldiered bravely on, playing gigs, making records, recording radio sessions…don't. The first we knew of the Moondogs came in 1979 with a 7" from Good Vibrations. Terri Hooley, who ran the label, certainly contributed his fair share to the sum of human happiness around the time."
We'll second that!
