Bell X1 serenade Hot Press comp winner in her living room!
Sinead Loughman from Maynooth was the lucky lady in question...
Congratulations to all those who entered our recent 'Bell X1 in Your House' competition. We had some brilliant, crazy, inspiring and even downright scary reasons why Bell X1 should play in your living room, but the winner was Sinead Loughman from Maynooth who enjoyed the band in her living room as they played a 12-song set to her and about 15 of her closest friends!
"It was lovely," guitarist Dave Geraghty said afterwards. "It's easy to see why gigs like this are becoming more and more popular. I never thought of doing it before, but I think it's a great thing to do, to just rock into somebody's gaff."
"A lot of the songs were born exactly like this, in one of our gaffs," Paul Noonan said, "so it's returning to roots of some kind."
You can find out the full details and see all the pics in the next issue of Hot Press, out Thursday, May 5.
Meanwhile, Hot Press gave Bell X1's new album Bloodless Coup the thumbs up - "All told, an artsy and atmospheric collection of highly commercial songs made by a world class Irish band at the very top of their game," said Olaf Tyaransen in his recent review.
The set list was chosen by competition entrants too, you told us your favourite Bell X1 track, and the results were played by the band:
'Pinball Machine'
'Next To You' (featuring elements of 'Miss Jackson' by Outkast)
'Alphabet Soup'
'Bad Skin Day'
'Velcro'
'Rocky Took A Lover'
'Slowset'
'Flame'
'The Great Defector'
'Eve, The Apple Of My Eye'
'West Of Her Spine'
'I'll See Your Heart And I'll Raise You Mine' (featuring elements of 'There Is a Light That Never Goes Out' by The Smiths)
