Arts Minister pays tribute to late O Domhnaill
The Minister for Arts, Sport & Tourism, John O’Donoghue, has led the tributes to traditional musician Micheal Ó Domhnaill who died suddenly last week.
A native of Meath with family roots in Donegal, Ó Domhnaill started his career with Scara Brae and then held down guitar and vocal duties with the legendary Bothy Band. He also moved into broadcasting as the presenter of RTE's The Long Note.
“Micheal was one of Ireland’s most gifted and well loved musicians,” the Minister reflects. “His contribution to the world of traditional and folk music was enormous. His passing is a great loss and he will be sadly missed.”
