Artane Band to release an album
The Croke Park staples will release on Spoke Records
National institution the Artane Band are to release an album on Spokes Records, home to The Brilliant Things and Tara Blaise.
John Hughes of Spokes says it's something he's wanted to do for ages.
"There's 50 teenagers in the band and it wonderful to see them in action," says Hughes. "These kids have music in their lives and when you meet them you can see how important it is. You think: this is what kids should be doing because it's not just about personal development and becoming good musicians, it's about teamwork. They are amazing."
The album was produced by Greg French and features versions of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller', as well as Abba and Eric Clapton medleys. There's also some of the Irish fare that will be familiar from the band's Croke Park outings.
The Artane Band appeared at Oxegen, where they played three songs with The Brilliant Things on the Main Stage.
