Alain Toussaint confirms Dublin date
The 'Southern Nights' man is in Whelan's.
It’s legend time on July 13 as New Orleans musician, producer and songwriter Alan Toussaint plays a one-off show in Whelan’s, Dublin.
Best-known for the song ‘Southern Nights’, which gave Glen Campbell a mega-hit in the ‘70s, Toussaint has worked with everyone from The Neville Brothers and The Meters to Lee Dorsey and Elvis Costello who co-opted him on to 2006’s The River In Reverse album.
Also upcoming at Whelan’s on July 7 is Ruthie Foster whose current The Truth According To… album has been favourably compared to the likes of Janis Joplin and Aretha Franklin. A real star in the making, blues fans may already have caught her opening for Eric Bibb.
