The Making Waves podcast and Balcony TV have made it on to radio.
RTÉ’s new digital and internet rock radio service, 2XM, has added two new shows to its schedule.
The first, Making Waves, airs every Monday at 7pm (repeated Thursday at 11am) and is presented by Rory Dungan, Claire O’Dowd and Richie Chakra. Launched in March 2006 as a podcast, its guaranteed Irish content ranges from established acts like Ash, Duke Special and Kíla to such young whippersnappers as Carly Sings, Leanne Harte and The Gorgeous Colours.
Also well worth a listen at 8pm on Tuesday is the BalconyTV Radio Hour, a wireless version of the live web sessions hosted by Stephen O’Regan, Tom Millett and Pauline Freeman. Perched above Dame Street in Dublin 2, the trio have managed to coax such heavy-hitters as Paul Brady, Paddy Casey, The Script and, er, Dustin The Turkey onto their titular balcony, and spawned sister stations in Hamburg and London.
