2FM have unveiled their new weekday schedule, which comes into force in March.
The biggest shock is the poaching of Colm Hayes and Jim “Jim Jim” Nugent from Dublin’s FM104, where they’ve been the long-term presenters of the PPI Award-winning Strawberry Alarm Clock.
The 2FM Alarm Clock will air from 6 to 9am replacing veteran RTÉ man Marty Whelan.
Having consistently topped the weekend ratings with The Saturday Show, Will Leahy gets promoted to the daily 5 to 7pm The Shift With Will Leahy.
“2FM with this strengthened schedule is firmly focusing its programming towards the 15-34 age group,” says Head Of 2FM John Clarke. “The changes will bring freshness to an already strong output. Our new breakfast show will be presented by the two top presenters for this young audience. The new early evening shift bookends a competitive daytime line-up which is creating a very positive reaction from the commercial world.”
The full schedule is as follows:
6 – 9am: The 2FM Alarm Clock with Colm and Jim Jim
9 – 12pm: The Gerry Ryan Show
12 – 2pm: Nikki Hayes
2 – 5pm: Rick O’Shea
5 – 7pm: The Shift with Will Leahy
7 – 10pm: Ruth Scott
10 – 12am: Damien Farrelly
12 – 2am: Dan Hegarty
Listeners can also expect a major overhaul of the station’s weekend schedule which, as previously announced on hotpress.com, will incorporate Larry Gogan who’s given up his weekday show by mutual consent.
