Saoirse Ronan reportedly cast as Linda McCartney in Beatles biopic

Saoirse Ronan is reportedly set to portray Linda McCartney, Paul McCartney’s first wife, in the upcoming series of Beatles biopics.

The news was first reported by Deadline, who received the information by "multiple sources".

Sony Pictures and director Sam Mendes announced in April that four individual Beatles films will be released “in proximity” in April 2028, each told from the perspective of one of the band members.

Paul Mescal will play Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison.

The scripts are being written by Jez Butterworth, Peter Straughan, and Jack Thorne.

Ronan’s casting would mark a reunion with Mescal, who starred alongside her in the 2023 sci-fi drama Foe.

Ronan, a four-time Oscar nominee, recently starred in The Outrun and Bad Apples.

Linda McCartney was married to Paul in 1969 until her death in 1998. She collaborated with him musically and was known for her work in photography, animal rights advocacy, and vegetarian publishing. The two had five children, Stella, James, Beatrice, Heather, and Mary.

Filming is expected to take over a year, with Mendes suggesting work on the project will continue into 2028.

As of this writing, Sony has not officially confirmed Ronan’s casting.
